Agricultural and medical biotechnology and biology senior Alex Stewart was awarded a 2023 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. With his fellowship, Alex will pursue a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Arizona.

“I grew up in the middle of the Daniel Boone, surrounded by nature,” he said. “Studying evolutionary biology is a way to satisfy the curious kid playing in the creek while also contributing to our broader understanding of why life operates the way it does.”
