DAAD Research Internships in Science and Engineering
DAAD RISE enables undergraduate students to complete a summer research internship at a top German university or research institution. Students are matched with a host university or institute according to their area of interest (biology, chemistry, physics, earth sciences, engineering, or a closely related field). Knowledge of German is not required.

Isha Chauhan Biology major Isha Chauhan was selected for the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) program through the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD). Isha will intern at Stiftung Tierärztliche Hochschule Hannover (The University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover) in Hannover, Germany, conducting research on olfactory-induced vocal communication in Mongolian gerbils and performing statistical analysis in R and SPSS. |

Gretchen Ruschman Agricultural and medical biotechnology junior Gretchen Ruschman was selected for the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) program through the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD). Gretchen will be located at the Universität zu Lübeck in Lübeck, Germany. The aim of her research project is to characterize inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) relevant bacteria and gain insight into influencing factors for the course of the disease on the bacterial side. |

Jacob Concolino Chemical Engineering major Jacob Concolino was selected to participate in the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) program through the German Academic Exchange Service. He will use his internship to participate in research at Technische Universität Dortmund in Dortmund, Germany. Benjamin Cortas Physics and mathematics major Benjamin Cortas was selected to participate in the Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) program through the German Academic Exchange Service. Cary Brown Electrical Engineering major Cary Brown was selected for the DAAD Research Internship in Science and Engineering (RISE). He will intern in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, focusing on improving the sonar sensor interface on robotic submarines in the North Sea. RISE offers undergraduate students from North American, British and Irish universities the opportunity to complete a summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions.
