Amanda's REU, "Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices," is hosted by UK's Pigman College of Engineering.

Biomedical Engineering major Anna Baur will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Anna's REU, held at Syracuse University, will focus on interactive biomaterials.

Chemical Engineering senior Jordan Berezowitz will participate this summer in the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Jordan's REU, "Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices," is hosted by UK's Pigman College of Engineering.

Chemical engineering senior McKenna Clinch will participate in the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

McKenna's REU is housed at the Center for Innovative and Strategic Transformation of Alkane Resources (CISTAR) at Purdue University.

Chemical engineering major Dylan Ernst will participate this summer in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Dylan's REU, held at University of South Carolina, will focus on carbon dioxide and chemical engineering.

Physics major Sam Gianino will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program through UK's Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Yasamin's REU, "Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices," is hosted by UK's Pigman College of Engineering.

Psychology, Sociology and Philosophy major Rachel Hwang will participate this summer in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Rachel's REU, "Accountability, Behavior, and Conflict in Democratic Politics," will be held at Vanderbilt University.

Computer Science and Gender & Women's Studies major Bella Karn will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. She will be at the University of Nevada Las Vegas researching Smart Cities and how to make directional software better and easier to use.

Human Health Sciences major Nerissa Kiprotich is participating in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program with Dr. Isabel Escobar in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

Physics major Sam LeRose will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program through UK's Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Physics major Logan Martin will participate in the NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Biomedical Engineering major Leah Moylan will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program, working in a lab at the University of California San Diego focused on pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Electrical Engineering and Theatre major Hersch Nathan will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Hersch's REU, "Smart Computing and Communications," will be held at the Mobile, Pervasive and Sensor Computing Lab at University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology senior Phocheng Ngy is participating in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program with Dr. Olga Tsyusko in the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences.

Agricultural and Medical Biotechnology major Gretchen Ruschman will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at North Carolina A&T University and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Her REU, housed at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering, will be researching how synthetic biology strategies can be manipulated to create DNA-based data storage and memory systems.

Biosystems Engineering major Lauren Shackleford will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program.

Lauren's REU, housed at the University of Louisville, will focus on micro/nano/additive manufacturing.

Neuroscience major Connor Stuart will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program through the MindCORE Summer Fellowship Program at the University of Pennsylvania.

Physics major Zachary Wasson will participate in the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates program through UK's Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Chemical Engineering major McKenna Clinch participated this summer in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at Auburn University.

Her REU, "Collaborative Approaches Among Scientists and Engineers," gives STEM students the opportunity to work on a cross-disciplinary project led by teams of two faculty mentors from two distinct disciplines.

"My REU experience was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had," she said. "I was able to be a part of a research project from start to finish and wrap up my summer with a presentation to show my findings. This REU gave me the opportunity to discover the rewards of research and has motivated me to continue on to graduate school."

Agricultural and medical biotechnology major Megan Johnston will participate this summer in the Plant Genome Research Program through the Boyce Thompson Institute at Cornell University.

Funded by the National Science Foundation and U.S. Department of Agriculture, the program enables students to learn how basic plant research can be applied to protect the environment, enhance human health, and improve agriculture.

Psychology major Zora Woolfolk will participate in the MindCORE Summer Fellowship Program at the University of Pennsylvania in summer 2022.

Physics major Gabija Ziemtye will participate this summer in the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduate program.

Biology junior Isha Chauhan will participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program this summer at the University of Vermont. Her REU will focus on projects related to fruit fly and thermal tolerance.

Neuroscience and economics major Sydney Daniels was accepted to the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program for summer 2021.

Sydney's REU, the Summer Integrative Neuroscience Experience, is hosted by Florida Atlantic University at Jupiter and will focus on synaptic function, behavioral pharmacology, neurogenetics and systems neuroscience.

Lexi Gauger will participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program this summer. Her REU, "Accelerating New Environmental Workskills" is through the University of Maine and will be virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Working with faculty and graduate students in the university's One Health and the Environment Initiative, participants have the opportunity to pursue diverse research topics that span the natural and social sciences, from lab to field to policy, from marine to terrestrial species.

Chemical engineering major Alea Smith will participate this summer in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. Her REU "Engineered Bioactive Interfaces and Devices" is hosted by UK's College of Engineering.

Chemistry major Andrew Smith was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates program for summer 2021 at Georgia Tech.

Physics major Gabija Ziemyte will participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates program in summer 2021.

Hosted virtually through Old Dominion University and Jefferson Laboratory, the REU will help Gabija continue to explore her interest in accelerator physics.

Physics major and Lewis Honors College student Joshua Harry will participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program.

NSF-REU supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.

Mathematics major Jessica Appel will participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Physics and Computer Science student Honor Hare was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. Honor joined ongoing experimental efforts in high energy particle physics (HEP) and astroparticle physics research at Nevis Laboratories at Columbia University.

Electrical Engineering major Alyssa Livingood was selected for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She participated in the Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) Program at Vanderbilt University. Her project focused on using infrared spectroscopy to characterize thin films to be used in a nondispersive infrared gas sensing device.

Biology major Caylyn Railey will participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program at Cornell University in summer 2019.

Computer Science major Eura Shin was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation's Research Experiences for Undergraduates program. Eura participated in a program at the University of Southern California on robotics and autonomous systems in summer 2019.

Computer Science and Computer Engineering student Daniel Dopp was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. He will conduct research at the MIT Haystack Observatory in Westford, MA under the guidance of experts in the fields of Astronomy and Astrophysics.

Biology major Ben Farmer was selected to participate in a National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). He will study marine biology at Fort Johnson in South Carolina.

Electrical Engineering major Alyssa Livingood was selected for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She participated in the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience Program: Solid-State Devices for Electronics, Photonics, and Magnetics Technology at Clemson University. Her project focused on synthesizing magnetic nanoparticles for biomedical applications.

Chemical Engineering student Caylee Marshall was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She will research drug delivery techniques in a laboratory at Vanderbilt University.

Mathematical Economics and Mathematics student Lauren Moore was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Computer Science major Asare Nkansah was selected for an International Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU).

He will spend 3 months in Bordeaux, France focusing on computational and theoretical chemistry.

Psychology student Chimene Ntakarutimana was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She will engage in qualitative data collection and analysis in Rwanda, utilize survey data collected by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda, and will work on a reproductive health research project at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA.

Biology major Caylyn Railey will participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program at the University of Oregon in summer 2018.

Chemical Engineering major Sam Thompson was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at the University of Miami.

Biology major Maya Woolfolk was selected to participate in the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. During her program, she worked on molecular evolution of vision genes in frogs.

With funding from the National Science Foundation-Research Experiences for Undergraduates (NSF-REU) program, Chemistry major Katherine Clowes participated in research in a physical chemistry laboratory at Miami University during summer 2017.
