Ava Vargason, a 2017 Chemical Engineering graduate, was selected for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). Ava is currently a doctoral student in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of North Carolina. Her fellowship will fund her current research project, which focuses on modifying the surface of therapeutic bacteria (such as probiotics) to adhere to specific locations in the GI tract.
