University endorsement through our office is required to compete for the following scholarships. A campus deadline is set for each award prior to the final submission deadline. Interested students should contact Dr. Pat Whitlow at pat.whitlow@uky.edu or 859.257.4984.

Astronaut Scholarship

The Astronaut Scholarship is awarded to students in their junior and senior year of college studying science, technology, engineering, or mathematics with the intent to pursue research or advance their field upon completion of their final degree. Interest in aeronautics is not required.

Next campus deadline is March 2024.

Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship

The Goldwater Scholarship awards up to $7,500 to sophomores or juniors planning to pursue a research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering.

Next campus deadline is December 6, 2023.

James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace offers approximately 12 one-year James C. Gaither Junior Fellowships to uniquely qualified graduating seniors and recent graduates to work as research assistants to Carnegie’s senior scholars.

Campus deadline is TBD.

Churchill Scholarship

The Churchill Scholarship provides funding for a year of Master's study in a STEM field at Churchill College at the University of Cambridge.

Next campus deadline is October 2024

David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarship

The Boren Undergraduate Scholarship funds up to $25,000 to support language study/study abroad in world regions critical to U.S. interests.

Next campus deadline is January 2024.

English-Speaking Union Scholarship

Study English literature, creative writing, history or political science at the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge or University of Edinburgh through the English-Speaking Union Scholarship. Open to students with junior standing with one year remaining to complete their degree upon return from the program.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant programs in more than 140 countries.

Marshall Scholarship

The Marshall Scholarship finances two years of graduate study in the United Kingdom, covering university fees, cost of living expenses, an annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, and fares to and from the United States.

Mitchell Scholarship

The George J. Mitchell Scholarship Program is designed to introduce and connect generations of future American leaders to the island of Ireland, while recognizing and fostering intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to community and public service.

Up to twelve Mitchell Scholars are chosen annually for one academic year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by institutions of higher learning in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Mitchell Scholarship Program provides tuition, accommodation, and a stipend for living expenses and travel.

Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Scholarship

The Udall Foundation awards scholarships to college sophomores and juniors for leadership, public service, and commitment to issues related to Native American nations or to the environment.

Next campus deadline is February 26, 2024.

Rhodes Scholarship

The Rhodes Scholarship funds graduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Rhodes Scholars are chosen not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements, but for their character, commitment to others and to the common good, and for their leadership potential.

Next campus deadline is September 2024

Truman Scholarship

The Truman Scholarship awards up to $30,000 to students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and are devoted to careers in public service. Scholars also receive priority admission and supplemental financial aid at some premier graduate institutions, leadership training, career and graduate school counseling, and special internship opportunities within the federal government.
