The Boren Fellowship funds language study and research abroad for graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Regions include Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East. Preferred languages include Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Russian, Swahili and others. Boren Fellows commit to working for at least a year with the federal government upon graduation.
