Electrical Engineering major Alyssa Livingood was selected for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program. She participated in the Vanderbilt Institute of Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) Program at Vanderbilt University. Her project focused on using infrared spectroscopy to characterize thin films to be used in a nondispersive infrared gas sensing device.
The REU program supports active research participation by undergraduate students in any of the areas of research funded by the National Science Foundation. REU projects involve students in meaningful ways in ongoing research programs or in research projects specifically designed for the REU program.
